Look out San Francisco you may soon be not the only gay mecca with streetcars. Yes if the city has it’s way we streetcarmay have another form of transportation in the near future.

The commissioners Tuesday led by downtown businesses, organizations and residents supporting the proposed $142.6 million downtown electric streetcar project and would like to see it move forward.

With much support from downtown owners who at least for the current time seem OK with the idea of a special assessment. The 2.7 mile track would demand a $20.6 million dollar cost.

The fee would be for 25 years and is expected to relieve some downtown traffic as well as enhance the charm of downtown and give it a more urban feel.
